Who founded CritAIcal Hires? CritAIcal Hires was founded by Jay Wong. He is a venture partner at 3x Capital and a mentor and advisor to VC funds and accelerators including Mempool Ventures, GDA Capital and Brinc (the Animoca Brands-backed accelerator). He helped a leading industry media and research brand build its recruitment arm from scratch, and has a track record of placing C-level executives for category leaders and venture-backed start-ups. His experience spans fintech, emerging technology, blockchain and AI.
Why we started
Having used external agencies himself, Jay saw the same gap again and again: there weren’t enough true experts with the network, experience and knowledge to hire effectively for top companies and VC-backed start-ups in emerging tech. Agencies pivoted into new sectors when their old ones dried up, without understanding the technology or caring about the outcome.
So we built the opposite: a firm run by people who have worked as VC, business-development, tech and product leaders, who have invested their own money in team expansions, and who measure success by whether our clients scale.
